Regaine® and hair loss FAQs
Regaine® for Men Extra Strength Foam is one of the products that Regaine® offers to help regrow hair that has been lost as a result of hereditary hair loss. It’s an easy-to-use foam, designed to dissolve into the scalp and to be rapidly absorbed.
Regaine® contains Minoxidil, the only over-the-counter active ingredient clinically proven to help stop and even reverse men's hereditary hair loss.
9 out of 10 men said they kept or regrew hair after 16 weeks’ use of Regaine® for Men Extra Strength Foam. And 3 out of 5 men reported hair regrowth after 48 weeks when using Regaine® for Men Extra Strength Solution.
Regaine® for Men Foam is an easy-to-use foam, designed to dissolve into the scalp and to be rapidly absorbed.
Follow these four steps, twice a day, to ensure the foam is applied correctly:
Ensure you wash your hands before applying the foam.
Hold the can upside down and press the nozzle to dispense the topical foam: about half a capful. Always use the recommended 1g dose.
Rub the foam into your scalp and gently massage it throughout the affected area.
Wash your hands thoroughly and you’re done.
When using Regaine®, it’s natural to wonder how long until you see results.
Clinically visible hair regrowth may be seen as early as eight weeks when using Regaine® for Men Extra Strength Foam twice daily. However, this may vary, and it may take up to 16 weeks for visible regrowth to be seen. Just bear in mind, results may vary from person to person, so you just need to be patient.
When you start using a Regaine® hair loss treatment, you may notice a temporary increase in hair loss in the first two to six weeks. This is normal.
Based on the recommended dose, a Regaine® hair loss product will last approximately 30 days. As you near the end of one bottle or can, make sure you buy your next pack in preparation, so you don’t miss any applications.
Regaine® hair loss treatment is only effective when application is consistent.
No, using more hair loss treatment won’t make your hair grow any faster. If you apply Regaine® more than twice a day, you increase the risk of side-effects.
You should keep using Regaine® for as long as you want to maintain the effect. If you stop using the hair regrowth treatment, you will lose the hair that grew back and will most likely revert to the previous pattern of hair loss.
If you haven’t seen any regrowth after using Regaine® Foam for 16 weeks (or after using Regaine® Solution for one year), you should discontinue using the product.
If the hair regrowth treatment is stopped, you will not only lose the hair that grew back, but you will most likely revert to your previous pattern of hair loss.
If you plan to be in the sun after applying Regaine®, we recommend you use headwear.
It’s also a good idea to wait until Regaine® is completely dry before putting a hat on, as the product might stain the fabric.

REGAINE Extra Strength Solution is for hereditary hair loss in men aged 18 to 65.
It’s important when dispensing the foam that the can is held vertically straight, upside down to avoid the mixture turning into a liquid. If the can is held horizontally, then the propellant is released too quickly, resulting in excess liquid at the bottom of the can.
Yes, you can use Regaine® if you have a receding hair line, as this is typically a sign of the early stages of hereditary hair loss. Regaine® is an effective hair loss treatment for balding and hair thinning.
Rogaine® is sold in the U.S.A and is simply another trade name for Regaine®.
It may not be possible to prevent genetic or hereditary balding. However, treatments containing Minoxidil, such as Regaine® for Men, might be able to reverse it in some men.
Yes, Regaine® could help men who are experiencing thinning hair. It can help restore inactive hair follicles, with continued use potentially leading to thicker hair.
Hair and lifestyle FAQs
It’s not essential, but we do recommend using a gentle shampoo.
You don’t have to shampoo before applying Regaine® hair regrowth products. But if you do, make sure your scalp is completely dry before applying it.
This is simply to ensure that Regaine® won’t be diluted or evaporate before it has been fully absorbed.
You should continue your hair care routine as normal. But choose your haircare products carefully.
Gentle shampoos and conditioners suitable for your hair type are best, and always rinse them out thoroughly. If using any sprays, gels, wax or mousse, make sure that the Regaine® hair regrowth product you’re using is completely dry before applying.
You can use a hair dryer after shampooing, but Regaine® should be allowed to dry naturally. If you use it to dry the medication, the heat will cause it to evaporate before being absorbed into the scalp.
